HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT

HSE is an integral part of Coastal Springs Energy Limited’s management systems. Our HSE policy guides our operations in a way that is safe and without risk to health and the environment.
Our operation is tailored to meet our safety commitments through complete integration with the business processes designed to meet the needs of our clients, This commitment is facilitated through our Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management System which includes:

  • Visible management commitment, effective communication, and training to ensure environmental protection, safety, and health of our employees and the community.
  • Project management and accountability for HSE matters and the individual contribution expected of all employees.
  • Promoting a culture where “Stop Work” is exercised as stated in our company policy and is valued as a proactive process to control HSE-related risks and impacts.
  • Integration of HSE considerations, including identifying and controlling risks that may impact into our projects, plans, and operations.
  • Periodic audits and reviews of the HSE system and performance.
  • Compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and relevant industry standards.
  • Providing appropriate resources to implement this policy.

HSE POLICY STATEMENT
Coastal Springs Energy Limited, recognizes that safety is everybody’s affair. It is important that all personnel and visitors to our company sites and offices, take safety as a very important regulation for life.
To this end, all personnel must adhere to HSE standards and regulations by the company thus No PPE, No entry.

  1. The safety and good health of employees and visitors to our company must be given the highest safety consciousness.
  2. Employees must do all to avoid lost time injury and damage to company property.
  3. It must be noted that accident can be minimized through adequate training and management of HSE policies and standard.
  4. HSE is the management responsibility for the training of personnel of our company toward the maintenance of safety for all within the company premises and beyond; It is a mandatory instruction from the CEO’s office and must be put to the best internationally acceptable and industry practice.
  5. It is mandatory that all employees must do well to attend the safety training once every month as listed by order of employment.
  6. All hazardous materials within company premises must so be marked for easy identification and caution. No employee of our company should or would be allowed entry into hazardous area without protective equipment.
  7. Monthly HSE reports shall always be submitted to the CEO’s office for clarification and approval.
  8. Periodic health check shall always be carried out on all employees at quarterly bases as permitted by law.

HEALTH POLICY

Coastal Springs Energy Limited has a commitment to promote health and welfare of her employees and sub-contractors.
We have taken a bold step to ensure that all members of staff are insured on a regulated government medical health policy and or wherever necessary, to control spread of contagious health issues like covid-19.
To achieve this, Coastal Springs Energy Limited will maintain HSE regulatory programs that will focus on responsibilities in area of injury and accident prevention, hazard control and elimination, development of healthy work place practices, provision of clinical retainership to ensure that all employees are able to meet and obtain their medical needs without stress, to ensure that company’s work force maintains high profile employees status for company engagements and projects.
The success of the HSE programs rest solely on the commitment of management and successful implementation by all employees, contractors and sub- contractors.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL POLICY

Coastal Springs Energy Limited prohibits the use and taking of all alcoholic beverages and substances believed to be drugs of any kind except otherwise prescribed by a licensed medical officer from our medical facility, for the health benefit of the employee involved. It must be noted that any infraction to this policy by any employee of this company no matter who may lead to summary dismissal and or prosecution.

WAIVERS

Any employee under special medication are require to report the use of the prescribed drug that may adversely affect his or her work rate and thus lead to loss time injury to his or her head of department for a rest permission which may not be more than 48 hours but not less than 24 hours.

Violation

Employees so excused from duty in view of medical prescription will not be expected at work until certified fit, otherwise may lost his or her position if found to have returned to work in violation of company HSE rules. “Under influence “is define as being impaired or incapable of performing his or her job satisfactorily. When such conduct is related to an employee’s use of unauthorized medication, alcohol or controlled substances will lead to investigation for prompt disciplinary action by management.

CONSEQUENCE

Any employee found to have violated this policy will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action by management, which may include termination of appointment or suspension without pay from duty. This relates to all, temporary and contract employees.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Coastal Springs Energy Limited recognizes that its services may have an impact on the environment through its oil industry-related work, and is therefore committed to minimizing the impact by pursuing international best practices on the natural environment.
Coastal Springs Energy Limited

  • Sets environmental management strategy through an appropriate department of her workforce to see to the management of the environment in her jurisdiction for the prevention of environmental loss and pollution.
  • Communicates these policy objectives in a document to her host community and every stakeholder concerned.
  • Review these objectives and publish progress made in view of company co-operate achievements in this area.
  • Provide training for employees for synergy and for proper understanding of the policy and objectives to promote a great working relationship with our host community and the environment.
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors operate in line with the principle of company environmental policy.
  • Co-operate and communicate with all stakeholders and our clients towards the improvement of life and equity in the natural environment.
  • Management will continually maintain strict ISO 14000 and NESREA-approved standards in the maintenance of the quality of the natural environment for the preservation of the environment through mitigation of biodiversity and pollution control through cogent audits.

In line with these objectives, Coastal Springs Energy Limited has in place the following:

  1. To reduce energy wastage at the source.
  2. Minimize effectively, waste during production and maintenance processes through the use of safe storage and disposal techniques.
  3. To improve the selection of chemicals and fluids used in our offshore, swamp, and land activities to minimize impact on aquatic life and the environment.

Community Affairs Policy

Coastal Springs Energy Limited’s community relations policy goes on to cement a better working relationship between our company and its host community. In view of the industry’s local content policy, management proffers to engage in sound and profitable discussions with our host community in a way to forestall crises in our working environment.

  1. The youths from the host community shall be attended to only when they are not unruly and restive in their approach to company project locations.
  2. The elders shall have an all-inclusive arrangement with the company and shall at least once a year send a memo to the company on their request or suggestions as to their expectations from the company in their community.
  3. Management shall inform in writing through head community relations (CLO) of plans or projects to be undertaken by our company for the host community.
  4. Employment and sub-contract opportunities from our company shall carefully be outlined and published on the company website, and notice board at the company outpost information desk. The same memo shall be sent to the youth leadership and host community through our community relation officer for the purpose of clarity.
  5. Our host community shall be expected to adequately be involved in the issue of security to company assets, personnel, and environment.

SECURITY POLICY

Coastal Springs Energy Limited in line with government security agencies seeks to act as a watchdog and partner in the provision of adequate security around oil facilities in the industry.

  1. In partnership with state security agencies, we shall proffer attention to community, health, safety, and environmental security conditions of our operational area and host communities, to ensure risk-free and criminal activities around our area of operation.
  2. Security policies and procedures shall be implemented according to the universal declaration of human rights, the national and international laws as well as voluntary principles of security and human rights. Respect for human dignity and the environment is paramount.
  3. Management will follow up recognizable avenues for practicable recommendation in pursuance of our security objectives toward maintaining a crime-free work environment.
  4. This policy is centered on the protection of human lives and properties in the workplace and host community. With the cooperation of all stakeholders, it is our fervent belief that we through our mandate in the security sector, shall be able to forestall the safety of lives and properties in the workplace.
